After reading ‘The Tadpole’s Promise’ at the beginning of the year, the Year 6 children planned and wrote their own stories based on unlikely animal friendships. They turned their stories into picture books which they read to Year 2, who absolutely loved them!
This term we have enjoyed reading 'Holes' by Louis Sachar. We used this book to inspire our writing and to develop our reading skills. We made inferences about the different characters, backed up by evidence from the text; retold the story of Madam Zeroni and Stanley's great-great-grandfather; described the characters using a range of punctuation in our sentences; wrote wonderful setting descriptions using a range of descriptive devices; and wrote our own alternative endings to the story.
