AUTUMN
In Literacy, we continued our learning about Greek myths by exploring the story of the Trojan War. We discussed the key events of the myth and the important roles played by different characters, considering how their actions influenced the outcome of the war. To deepen our understanding, we took on the roles of various characters and explored their perspectives before retelling the story in our own words. This helped us develop our comprehension, speaking and listening skills, and ability to recount events in a clear and engaging way.
SPRING
In Literacy, we continued our work on The Wisp: A Story of Hope. To engage the children in the lesson, we began with a hook activity that introduced them to the reality of life in a refugee camp, helping them to develop empathy and a deeper understanding of the experiences faced by refugees. We then explored the setting of the refugee camp where Idris lives and used our knowledge of the text to write detailed setting descriptions. The children focused on using ambitious vocabulary, sensory language, and descriptive techniques to bring the setting to life for their readers.
