On Line Safety

A family agreement is a great way to start a conversation as a whole family about how the internet should be used safely and responsibly when online at home, at school or at a friend's house.

To support parents in creating a family agreement Childnet International have put together some free advice and a helpful family agreement template for families to use as a starting point.

Please find below two doduments to help you create your own family agreement

Do you know when your child is on the internet?

Do you know what your child is doing on the internet?

How does your child stay safe on the internet?

Does your child know what to do if they see something online they don’t like?

We talk to the children all the time about staying safe online in school during assemblies and in special e-safety lessons.

Below are some websites you can look at with your child to talk about staying safe online together.

Foundation Stage/KS1 children- Hectors World

KS2 children - Cyber Café

CBBC Stay Safe

There are websites you can look on to improve your knowledge also.

The most important thing you can do to keep your child safe is to talk to them and encourage them to talk to you.

Ask them to tell you how they stay safe online. What tips do they have for you? Where did they learn that?

Think about how you both use the internet. What could you do together? Are there activities you could do as a family?
