Autumn 1 - Fairground Wheel
In the autumn term, Year 2 completed a D.T module which focused on the children designing and constructing a Ferris wheel using everyday materials. To begin with, children were introduced to the concept of a Ferris wheel and learnt key terminology which related to a Ferris wheel. After this, the children drew their own design plans for a Ferris wheel and labelled their diagrams with the new vocabulary they had learnt. The next stage in the building process was to select the appropriate materials that the children would use to construct their model. After this, the children began by first constructing a base before attempting to make their wheel and axis. The final steps were to provide support to the wheel and build pods that decorated the wheel.
