Heathrow Primary School
Spring
This term in computing our topic was ‘We Are Musicians’. Pupils created a piece of music using GarageBand. We learnt how to navigate the app to use a variety instrument simulators. After creating our initial piece, we learnt about how edits could be made to our music in the tracks view. In groups, we listened back to the music we recorded before refining it based on ideas and feedback from our peers.
Autumn
In the Autumn term, Year 4 enjoyed becoming software developers and makers! They played educational games and analysed how algorithms work before design and creating their own game. They learnt how to build a simple Scratch program for their game using a question and feedback structure and learn about adding variables. They had to think about including repeat loops, adding scoring systems and messages. It was tricky learning how to correct errors! It was especially fun designing the game interface and linking our work to our topic of Ancient Egypt.
