As scientists this term we have explored the human body and how wonderful it can be. We have delved into numerous experiments involving using our senses. The children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in these. Their favourite experiment was definitely the guess who baby photo lesson. The children have also been learning lots about different animals and have enjoyed investigating what habitats are best suited for certain animals. It has been a great term for year 1 in science.
As scientists, this term Year 1 have been looking at seasonal changes. Children have been describing each seasonal change, such as piles of dry leaves for autumn, snow for winter, the beach for summer and flowers for spring. The children had a particular focus on autumn pointing out the incredible changes happening around them right now in nature. The children learnt about changes in weather and how people prepare for the expected weather conditions. Discussions were had on how people would prepare for different types of weather and the types of clothes they would wear. They also observed changes in the amount of daylight.
