Autumn Term
From the Ancient Maya to modern-day street art, Year 6 looked at how artists convey a message. Exploring imagery, symbols, expressive mark making, and ‘chiaroscuro’ the children considered audience and impact to create powerful drawings to make their voices heard. Spring Term
As artists, children will look at a range of artists including David Hockney, Paula Rego, John Singer Sargent, Fiona Rae and Lubaina Himid. Children will understand:
- To use narrative and use descriptive language to tell a story
- Suggest ideas for meaning behind certain paintings.
Children will research different artists and from this will use this as inspiration to create their own final piece of work.
