AUTUMN
As design technologists, for autumn term, Year 3 designed and made a castle. They used investigative skills to explore features of a castle and then planned how they will use materials successfully to make one. They also evaluated their designs against a success criterion they decide on as a class.
Also in this term, pupils became sewers. They learnt and applied two new sewing techniques, which where cross-stitch and appliqué. They then utilised these new skills to design and make a cushion
SPRING:
This term, in Design and Technology we became toy makers. We did this by exploring pneumatic systems and pneumatic toys. In this topic, we learnt about and then designed our own thumbnail sketches and exploded diagrams for our own pneumatic toy. We then were able to make and construct our final designs. Also, we discussed what appropriate designs we could use for toys and what materials would be the most durable. Finally, we tested our products to see if the mechanism worked.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
