Heathrow Primary School
Our story this week was 'The Elves and the shoemakers.' We really enjoyed discussing this story and learnt some new vocabulary. We chose our favourite shoes and talked about why we liked them best. Children chose a variety such as slippers, trainers, boots, sandals, crocs and wellies. They were able to describe how they looked using adjectives.
The children practised their fine motor skills to thread laces in the shoes. The children really preserved with a tricky job and were really proud of themselves.
We learnt about pairs of shoes and played a memory matching game to find the shoes that went together to from a pair. The children followed the instructions very well, only turning over two cards to see if they were a match. We focused on our observational skills to see if they were a match and support us in remembering where they were. We described the shoes each time to support us with matching. We were working on holding the information in our brains to use when it was our turn. The children had a lot of fun.
We learnt the ‘o’ sound in Phonics and practised forming it in glitter.
We carried out our termly baseline assessment activities to see the children’s progress this term.
