Week 12- Easter Story & We're Going on an Egg Hunt

This week we learnt about the Christian story of Easter. We also learnt about the season Spring, how the temperature and weather changes, and how we see lots of new life in animals, such a chicks and lambs, and in plants, such as daffodils. We discussed that the new life in spring and Jesus's resurrection is why people celebrate Easter with chocolate eggs.

We made chocolate nests by crushing shredded wheat and mixing it with melted chocolate and then placed some mini eggs inside. The children discussed what happened in the microwave, whether it made it hot or cold. We talked about how the consistency changes when it is heated up and it is a hard solid and then it become a soft gooey liquid. They counted out three eggs to place in their nest.

We made handprint Easter Bunny cards for Easter. We practised writing our names for these using the correct formation. We made sure to start at the left and try to place each letter close to the previous one.

We used our cutting skills to make our own Easter baskets. We focused on holding the scissors correctly, and turning the paper to try and cut accurate along the lines.

We read the story ‘We’re Going on an Egg hunt.’ We counted the amount of eggs they found and acted it out. We were so lucky to have the Easter Bunny come and visit us and leave some exciting treats for us to find on our very own egg hunt! We collected these in the baskets we made earlier.

Booster Cushions theatre came into perform for us. The children lovely being involved and found it so funny!

We observed our beans that have grown since we planted them when learning about Jack and the Beanstalk. The children discussed the parts of the plant, how they have changed and what they needed to grow. They look forward to repotting/planting them in the garden to watch them continue to grow!
