This week we focused on Mother's Day. We read the story, 'My Mum is the best.' We discussed why Mummy is so special to us and the lovely things we could do for Mummy on Mother's Day to show how much we love her.
The children practised their cutting skills by cutting out a heart shape to make their Mother's Day cards. They then collaged the heart. We hope you like them!
The children learnt a special song for Mother’s Day. Please view this on Class Dojo 😊
We learnt about the celebration of Eid. We were able to compare this to other religious celebrations we have learnt about. The children learnt about what Muslims do during Ramadan, how they decorate their houses, go to the Mosque on Eid to pray and have family feasts. The children enjoyed making their own Eid paper plates. Some of the children used their find motor draw mehndi patterns on hands. Mrs Jahan did mehndi on some of the children’s hands.
We had our Healthy Living Days on Thursday and Friday. We learnt about healthy food and what they do for our bodies. The children were able to select the healthy food to put in our shopping basket. We discussed the importance of washing our hands to keep us healthy. The children washed their hands, scrubbing the indie, outside, fingers, thumbs, nails and wrists. They then cut up their own fruit and used their fine motor skills to push them onto skewers to make fruit kebabs.
We learnt some Bhangra dancing on Thursday. The children loved learning the new moves and paid close attention. They had lots of fun performing the routine and freestyling.
On Friday, we learnt some new basketball skills. The children were learning to chest pass the ball and how to bounce it on the floor. We started to learn how to dribble the ball, bouncing it whilst moving. We really enjoyed the session!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
