Heathrow Primary School
Over the last few weeks, we have been learning all about Christmas. We went on our trip to, “the red letter box to post our Christmas cards.” We stopped and listened to the different things we could hear on the way such as planes, cars, birds etc. We looked at the numbers on houses, car number plates and buses. We looked at the different colours we could see all around us. We stopped to look at the letter son road signs and car number plates. We looked at the different shapes of the road signs and thought about what they might mean.
We read ‘The Nativity,’ story and ‘My First Christmas’ to learn about the Christian celebration of Christmas. The children sequenced the story of the baby Jesus.
We used our cutting skills to make Christmas lists and were trying to hear the initial sounds in the words.
We drew talked about a drew different ways people celebrate Christmas.
We have engaged in lots of Christmas crafts such as making handprint Santa and robins, we used lollypop sticks to make either Christmas trees or reindeers and used pompoms, sequins, pipe cleaners and googly eyes to decorate them.
We had an amazing Christmas party full of party games and food! We played pass the parcel, musical statues, musical chairs, and musical bumps. This was supporting our listening skills, focus and attention and our ability to win and lose graciously. Everyone looked so festive in their Christmas outfits.
We have been practising for our performance for the parents. The children have been working on singing, not shouting, remembering their places and the words to the song. The performances went really well, thank you for coming parents. We hope you are as proud of the children as we are!
