Heathrow Primary School
Year 5 enjoyed an exciting visit to the RAF Museum as part of their science learning on forces and mechanisms. During the trip, the children took part in a workshop on levers, pulleys and simple machines, where they explored how forces can be used to lift, move and control objects. They were introduced to key vocabulary such as effort, load, lever and fulcrum, and had the opportunity to see how engineering ideas are used in real-life contexts.
After the workshop, the children explored the museum’s impressive collection of aircraft and artefacts, learning more about the history of flight and the design of different planes. The visit was a valuable opportunity for pupils to take their classroom learning beyond school and experience science and engineering in a memorable setting.
