Number Day 2026

For this year's Number Day, we raised money for the NSPCC by having a number themed no-uniform day. The children enjoyed lots of fun mathematical tasks in class as well as a maths themed scavenger hunt outside. It was a great day!

Year 2

Year 2 had a fantastic time celebrating Number Day! We started the day by playing Times Tables Rock Stars as part of the NSPCC competition, showing great enthusiasm. Next, we carried out a coins investigation linked to our money topic, exploring how many different values we could make using a range of coins. To finish the day, we enjoyed an orienteering activity where we practised adding a variety of single-digit numbers while moving around outdoors. It was a fun-filled day of maths, teamwork and problem-solving!

Year 3

On Number Day, Year 3 took part in a scavenger hunt where they had to find a solve a set of maths problems. They had to identify shapes, find halves of amounts and solve addition and subtraction problems.

Year 4

For Number Day, we took part in a range of exciting mathematical challenges. We began by investigating the perimeters of regular polygons, exploring how joining regular octagons together affected the perimeter of the new shape. We looked for patterns, made predictions, and extended our learning by creating and comparing our own polygon shapes.

Later, we headed outside for a maths orienteering activity. Working in teams, we followed a course around the school grounds, solving timetable and multiplication challenges up to 12 × 12 at each checkpoint. It was a fantastic way to practise key maths skills while developing teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience. Everyone showed great enthusiasm and mathematical thinking throughout the day!

Year 6

Year 6 enjoyed some maths based orienteering related to Roman numerals and times tables. The children enjoyed using their maths skills as well as their map reading skills to solve the clues.
