Year 4

World Book Week was spectacular because we enjoyed a variety of activities to get ourselves into reading. We kicked off the week by having a teacher swap where the children were read to by another adult. On Tuesday, we entered a ‘Design your book token’ competition thinking about 'how we choose to read'. Have a look at some of our designs! Years 4 thoroughly enjoyed solving a 'murder mystery' in the library and the winning teams received a chocolate prize from Miss Nayager. On Wednesday, we had a visit from an author - Ruth Burgess - who intrigued us with stories from around the globe. On Thursday, we enjoyed a Hobbit’s Tea Party, where the children brought snacks and shared extracts from their favourite books. On Friday, the children dressed up as their favourite book characters, and came armed with a good book ready for D.E.A.R. 'Where's Wally? had children scurrying across the playground to find him so that they could then meet Miss Nayager in the library to eat a biscuit and borrow a book. All in all, it was a magical week of reading for pleasure!
