Heathrow Primary School
In Reception, we focused on the story ‘Alice in Wonderland’ throughout World Book Week. The children were really intrigued to find out more about Wonderland. We heard the story through different media, such as a shortened story, reading the chapter, ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party,’ and watching a play version. The children wrote letters to Alice asking her questions about Wonderland and giving her some information about them. The children enjoyed using their art skills to decorate the Cheshire Cat and Alice to go on display on our classroom doors. They thoroughly enjoyed all of the World Book Week activities such as the Wizard Storytelling, the Year 6 performances of well-known stories, the teacher swap, the Mad Hatter’s Tea party we had at school and most of all, dressing up as their favourite book characters!
